Har du hört talas om Zotero: The Next-Generation Research Tool? Vet att jag pekat på den förut men...Utvecklat vid George Mason University, Washington D.C. Det är en fullfjädrad, gratis "reference manager". Samla, spara och skapa referenser. Lätt att arbeta med. Obs: du måste använda webbläsaren Firefox för att använda Zotero.

Biodiversity Heritage Library





Ett verkligt "fynd": Biodiversity Heritage Library.-som jag antagligen nämnt förut, men som definitivt förtjänar att nämnas igen: "Ten major natural history museum libraries, botanical libraries, and research institutions have joined to form the Biodiversity Heritage Library Project. The group is developing a strategy and operational plan to digitize the published literature of biodiversity held in their respective collections. This literature will be available through a global “biodiversity commons"

Scholarpedia- Citizenpedia










Det finns två "ättlingar" till Wikipedia: Scholarpedia och Citizendium- the citizens´compendium. De försöker, på var sitt sätt, bemöta kritiken om Wikipedias tillförlitlighet. Scholarpedia skapas och skrivs av "experter": "peer reviewed encyclopedia written by scholars from all around the world.
och Citizendium av "The general public and experts collaborate, using their real names". Absolut värda en titt.

Science, Evolution, and Creationism


The National Academies Press har lagt ut ännu en intressant bok: Science, Evolution, and Creationism
... " Science, Evolution, and Creationism explains the fundamental methods of science, documents the overwhelming evidence in support of biological evolution, and evaluates the alternative perspectives offered by advocates of various kinds of creationism, including "intelligent design." The book explores the many fascinating inquiries being pursued that put the science of evolution to work in preventing and treating human disease, developing new agricultural products, and fostering industrial innovations. The book also presents the scientific and legal reasons for not teaching creationist ideas in public school science classes"

Open Science Directory





En mycket intressant söktjänst (m.m.) utvecklad av EBSCO och Hasselt University Library : Open Science Directory.
Målet är att skapa ett sökverktyg för alla OA tidskrifter (eller de som ingår i speciella proghram för t.ex. utvecklingsländer) och förenkla åtkomsten genom direkt tillgång till tidskriften ..."All information about the included journal collections is available at the websites of the included projects. These websites are directly accessible from the Open Science Directory.
The Open Science Directory will not replace these programs. Also the different programs have their own regulations and eligibility conditions. As a interested user, you or your institute will have to register on their sites if you want to make use of special programs like HINARI, AGORA, INASP-PERI, OARE, eIFL and eJDS. " Mer: "About 13000 scientific journals are now available in the ‘Open Science Directory’. When all the special program journals will be included, the Open Science Directory will contain more than 20000 titles.
Open Science Directory contains collections of Open Access Journals (full – partly) and journals in the special programs (Hinari, Agora). Other programs will be added in the near future: OARE, INASP-PERI, eIFL, eJDS.
